Why not Try a Tri?

On July 8th the Cancer Fighter Triathlon takes place at Tippings Pond in Massey Drive.  This event can go by a number of names, Sprint Triathlon, Starter Triathlon, or Shorter Distance Triathlon, but no matter what you call it, it is an opportunity to try a tri.  The idea of taking on a full blown triathlon can be an intimidating thought to some people.  However a sprint triathlon gives athletes the opportunity to get a taste of what a triathlon is all about.  The disciplines are the same – Swim, Bike, Run – but the distances are shortened.  The Cancer Fighter Triathlon gives two distance categories to chooses from:  Sprint Triathlon – (500m swim, 16km bike, 6km run) and Super Sprint Triathlon – (250m swim, 8km bike, 2km run).  There are also Duathlon Events to choose and events for children.

The Cancer fighter Triathlon is also a fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society.  Athletes can have donation forms emailed to them and have people sponsor them with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.

This is a fun event for the whole family to take part in and it is for a great cause.
